Design Concept:
Technology in which the human is priority.

The theme of The Nakatani Shipbuilding Yard is the modernization of the interaction between human and technology. We concentrate on the speed-up of ship operation, increased automation and improved living quarters. CAD has been used in the design of our ships from the earliest stages of production. Our staffs have rich experience with the design and production of new vessel types.

One answer to the challenge of modernization is the vessel "SHOUYOUMARU".

"The Shouyoumaru" is designed for operation in local seas.
The characteristics that set this vessel apart are:
A bridge that became a cockpit as automation reduced staffing requirements.

Automatic collision prevention equipment..

Engine room MO-ization

Modulization

The vessel's communication floor is equipped with a saloon, restaurant and residence room. These additional features have greatly improved the human experience onboard the vessel. Our company promotes shipbuilding in which the human is the leading part.

These new methods were adopted, and a usual image was greatly changed. Still our company promotes "the shipbuilding of the human being leading part" all the more.

The challenge of increasing a ship's speed.

Designing the form of a ship to restrain water resistance to a minimum is one of the most effective methods of improving the speed of a vessel. Additionally, improved form increases loading ability and fuel efficiency. Our company has tested many ship forms using water tanks in cooperation with The University of Hiroshima Ship Research Department and the WEST JAPAN ENGINEERING LABORATORY CO.,LTD. Improved hull design has allowed us to reduce engine output by 30% without affecting performance. Additionally the development of the stern FIN, key to hull vibration is currently under research.

The hull design of dreams.

"I want to embark unconsciously!". A ship that makes a person excited and filled with romantic adventure spirit is important. While hull design is dictated by efficiency, it is important that the designs of many aspects are free and innovative.

The improvement of the living environment

In keeping with our theme that the human experience is paramount we have placed great emphasis on the design and experience of the living areas.
An environment that is pleasant and comfortable is important in the securing and retention of quality manpower.

Space en-par with a hotel:.

The living area has been transformed from the traditional, dull monotone color scheme and steel walls and floors typical of many vessels. Our interiors resemble hotels more than ships and all are equipped with air conditioners, televisions, washing machines and dryers. In the future unit baths will also be equipped.
